How to Play Texas Hold'em

JDB Gaming’s Texas Hold’em brings the classic No-Limit Hold’em structure to a digital 6-player cash-table format. Up to six participants can sit at one table, with the pot built over the course of each hand.

The gameplay follows the standard stages of a poker hand. Each player receives two hole cards, while community cards are revealed progressively on the table. As the hand develops, players can continue betting, raise, call or fold.

The goal is to make the strongest five-card hand from the available hole and community cards, or to win the pot before showdown if every other participant folds.

Unlike automated casino poker games played against a dealer, the focus here is on cash-table interaction between players, bet sizing and decisions at every betting stage.

Texas Hold'em Cards and Table Elements

Texas Hold’em does not use reel symbols. Its core gameplay elements are cards, the shared pot, table positions and player actions.

  • Hole Cards. The two private cards dealt to an individual player.
  • Community Cards. Shared cards revealed on the table as the hand progresses.
  • Pot. The shared pot for the current hand.
  • Big Blind / Small Blind. Mandatory bets that create the initial pot.
  • Call. Matching the current bet.
  • Raise. Increasing the current bet.
  • Fold. Leaving the current hand.
  • Bonus Pot. An extra 10 BB that the system can randomly add to the pot before betting begins.

Reels, paylines, Wilds, Scatters and a symbol-based paytable do not apply to Texas Hold’em.

Texas Hold'em Mechanics and Features

The main JDB Gaming version of Texas Hold’em combines classic No-Limit poker with one notable additional mechanic.

6-Max Cash Table. Up to six players can take part at one table. The more compact format means more frequent participation in hands than at a larger full-ring table.

No-Limit Betting. Raises are not restricted to a fixed increment. Players control their bet size within the limits of their available stack.

Bonus Pot. The feature can trigger randomly during any hand. Before betting begins, the system adds another 10 BB to the shared pot.

No Extra Buy-In for Bonus Pot. The additional 10 BB is added without a separate contribution from the players, so participants compete for the larger pot within a normal hand.

Four Betting Stages. A hand progresses through Pre-Flop, Flop, Turn and River, followed by a possible Showdown if more than one player remains in the pot.

Free Spins. Standard free spins do not apply because Texas Hold’em is a card-based cash-table game.

Texas Hold'em Interface and Controls

The Texas Hold’em interface is built around a six-seat poker table. The shared pot and community cards appear in the centre, with player positions arranged around the table.

On their turn, players receive a set of available actions based on the current situation: Fold, Check, Call, Bet or Raise. Bet size is adjusted through the betting controls.

Bonus Pot visibly increases the shared pot before the betting round begins. The hand then continues under the standard No-Limit Hold’em structure.

Texas Hold'em Reviews

Below are opinions about Texas Hold’em. They help you understand which features, mechanics, pace, and design may be important when evaluating the game.

I like that this version of Texas Hold'em is built as a proper 6-max cash table rather than an automated game against a dealer. Other players' decisions genuinely affect how the pot develops and when it makes sense to stay in a hand.

Editor’s reply:

The JDB Gaming version does use a six-seat No-Limit cash-table format with player-versus-player action.

Bonus Pot changes the usual rhythm in a good way. When another 10 BB is added to the pot before betting, the hand immediately feels more significant even though the underlying Hold'em rules stay the same.

Editor’s reply:

Bonus Pot adds 10 BB before betting starts and does not require a separate contribution from players.

The interface feels clear for cash poker: positions, the shared pot, my cards and available actions are easy to see. I especially like that there are no unnecessary slot animations around the core poker mechanics.

Editor’s reply:

Texas Hold’em is classified under Card / Table Games and is built around a classic poker-table interface.

The game is more engaging than most automated poker tables, but the 6-max No-Limit format can be demanding for a beginner. You need to understand not only hand rankings but also when to call, raise or fold.

Editor’s reply:

Knowledge of betting structure and basic strategy matters more here than in simple fixed-action table games.

If you want a conventional slot, Texas Hold'em is definitely not that format. There are no spins or bonus rounds — the entire game revolves around cards, the pot and decisions at the table. That is a plus for poker fans but a very different experience for slot players.

Editor’s reply:

Texas Hold’em is a multiplayer card game and does not use a traditional reel-based structure.
