Blocks — Hacksaw Gaming Instant Win review and demo

Blocks Review

Blocks is a Hacksaw Gaming Instant Win game from the Dare2Win™ range that replaces conventional reels with a compact 3×3 grid of nine three-dimensional cubes. After a bet is placed, the cubes flip to reveal coloured faces, and the result depends on whether a large enough cluster of matching colours is formed. Before every round, the player chooses Low, Medium or High risk.

Blocks Demo — Play for Free

The Blocks demo is useful for comparing the three risk levels without wagering real money. Low requires a smaller cluster, while Medium and High increase the minimum number of matching cubes and change the potential multipliers. The interface displays the possible multipliers before a round starts, so you can learn the mechanic before moving to real-money play.

Blocks Key Features

Blocks is an Instant Win game rather than a classic slot with reels and paylines. Its main features are a nine-cube grid, clusters of matching colours and three adjustable risk levels. The provider also supports several RTP configurations, so the exact value for a particular casino should be checked in the help section of the loaded version.

About Blocks

The Blocks game area consists of nine separate cubes arranged in a 3×3 matrix. Each cube has six sides, with every side assigned one of six colours. After BET is pressed, the cubes flip and form a new colour pattern. A win occurs when matching colours touch and create a cluster of the required size.

Low, Medium or High Risk can be selected before betting. On Low, winning clusters start at three matching coloured cubes; on Medium, four are required; on High, five are required. The largest possible cluster in every mode is nine cubes, meaning the entire 3×3 grid can form one connected colour group.

Changing the risk level adjusts both the winning threshold and the multipliers shown beneath the game area. Blocks therefore does not have one fixed volatility level: Hacksaw Gaming officially describes it as Variable. The more demanding the selected configuration, the further the balance shifts from more accessible clusters towards larger potential payouts.

Blocks Symbols

Blocks has no traditional card symbols, Wilds or Scatters. Instead, it uses nine three-dimensional cubes, each with six coloured sides. The result depends not on individual images but on how many cubes of the same colour form a connected cluster after the flip.

The required cluster size depends on the selected risk: Low counts clusters from 3 to 9 cubes, Medium from 4 to 9, and High from 5 to 9. The potential multiplier for every eligible cluster size is displayed directly beneath the grid and updates when the risk mode changes.

Blocks Features and Free Spins

Blocks is not built around classic Free Spins, Bonus Buy or a separate bonus round. Its main special mechanic is integrated directly into the base game cycle: the player chooses the risk level and then tries to form a cluster large enough to win.

  • Low Risk. Winning clusters start at 3 matching coloured cubes and can contain up to 9 positions.
  • Medium Risk. A cluster of at least 4 cubes of the same colour is required for a payout.
  • High Risk. The minimum winning cluster increases to 5 cubes; this mode provides access to the game’s highest stated potential.
  • Dynamic Multipliers. The multipliers beneath the grid update when the risk changes and show the potential payout for the corresponding cluster size.
  • Max Win 5000×. This is the officially stated maximum win relative to the stake.

Hacksaw Gaming offers Blocks with several RTP configurations: 98%, 97%, 96%, 94%, 92% and 88%. This does not mean the player selects RTP manually: the operator normally determines the mathematical version, so it is important to check the rules or information section inside the game before wagering real money.

Blocks Interface and Controls

The main Blocks controls centre on the stake, the Risk selector and the BET button. Multipliers for different cluster sizes are displayed beneath the 3×3 matrix. Switching between Low, Medium and High immediately recalculates the available multipliers, so the player can see the round conditions before starting.

The official version supports Autoplay and Turbo Mode. Autoplay runs a sequence of rounds automatically, while Turbo speeds up the cube-flip animation. Automatic play includes win and loss limits. Hacksaw Gaming also highlights built-in Responsible Gaming tools; the exact set of available functions may additionally depend on the operator and jurisdiction.

A betting range of 0.10–100 is confirmed by SlotsLaunch and the operator guide used during verification. If a particular casino shows a different maximum or set of denominations, the values in the loaded Blocks version should take priority.

Blocks Pros and Cons

Blocks is aimed at players who enjoy short Instant Win rounds and the ability to adjust risk without entering a separate bonus mode.

Pros

  • Clear 3×3 grid without a complex symbol paytable.
  • Three risk modes: Low, Medium and High.
  • Winning cluster requirements are visible in advance.
  • Multipliers are displayed directly beneath the game area.
  • Variable volatility lets you change the character of the rounds through the Risk setting.
  • The official Max Win reaches 5000× the stake.
  • Autoplay and Turbo Mode are available.

Cons

  • No classic Free Spins, Wilds, Scatters or Bonus Buy.
  • High Risk requires a larger cluster for any payout.
  • The visual mechanic is minimalist and may feel repetitive to players who prefer narrative slots.
  • The game is offered with several RTP configurations, so the exact RTP needs to be checked with the operator.

Blocks Reviews

Below are opinions about Blocks. They help you understand which features, mechanics, pace, and design may be important when evaluating the game.

I liked that Blocks needs almost no tutorial: choose the risk, check the required cluster size and press BET. It is especially useful that the multipliers are visible beneath the grid before the round. Low works well for learning the game, while High changes the feel noticeably because a much larger same-colour cluster is required.

Editor’s reply:

That is one of the key features of Blocks: the selected Risk changes the minimum winning cluster size and simultaneously adjusts the displayed multipliers.

The 3×3 format was more interesting than I expected. Instead of reels, you simply watch nine cubes flip and form colour groups. I prefer Medium Risk: it already requires a more substantial match but does not feel as demanding as High. Turbo also works well for short, fast sessions.

Editor’s reply:

Medium does sit between the other two settings: a payout requires a cluster of at least four cubes, while High raises the threshold to five.

The strongest part of Blocks for me is being able to change the character of the game with one switch. On Low you watch for smaller clusters, while on High you wait for a rarer large match. The interface is not cluttered and the potential multiplier is clear in advance. I only wish there were a separate bonus event to add variety between regular rounds.

Editor’s reply:

Blocks deliberately stays compact as an Instant Win game: its main variation comes from the three risk levels rather than separate Free Spins or Bonus Buy.

The coloured-cube idea is neat, the rules are transparent, and Autoplay and Turbo make the game convenient. Over a long sequence of rounds, though, the visual variety runs out quickly for me: everything comes back to the same nine blocks and cluster size. I would use Blocks more as a short break between richer slots.

Editor’s reply:

The minimalism is part of the Dare2Win™ format: instead of multiple bonus screens, Blocks focuses on one short cycle with adjustable risk.

Blocks is easy to understand, but High Risk felt too demanding for me because even the first payout requires a cluster of five matching cubes. I am more comfortable with Low, where I can assess the mechanic without such a high threshold. It is also worth remembering that RTP can differ between operators, so the information in the exact version should be checked separately.

Editor’s reply:

That is correct: Hacksaw Gaming officially lists several RTP configurations, and the minimum winning cluster does depend on the selected Risk level.
