Backgammon by Galaxsys — Board Game Review

18+ only.

Backgammon Review

Backgammon by Galaxsys is a digital version of the classic board game in a player-versus-player format. There are no reels, slot symbols, or fixed random payouts from the provider: two players compete against each other, roll dice, and move their checkers around the board, trying to be the first to bear off all their pieces. The platform supports several Backgammon variants and additional rules that can be configured when creating a table.

Backgammon Demo — Play for Free

The Backgammon demo helps you get familiar with the Galaxsys interface, board layout, move logic, and table settings without immediately switching to real-money play. New players may find it useful to first learn how available moves are displayed after the dice roll, how the bar works, and how checker positions change. Depending on the available integration, Guest Mode may also let you watch other players’ matches.

How to Play Backgammon

Classic Backgammon is played by two players. Each controls 15 checkers on a board with 24 points. The goal is to move all your checkers into your home board and then bear them off before your opponent does. The players move in opposite directions, so each match combines racing, blocking, and positional play.

At the start of a turn, the player rolls two dice. Each die value is used as a separate move. You can move two different checkers or, if the position allows it, move one checker successively by both values. Doubles provide additional moves using the same number. The exact legal move depends on occupied points and the selected ruleset.

If a checker lands on a point occupied by a single opposing checker, that checker can be hit and sent to the bar. A player with a checker on the bar must re-enter it before making any other moves. Points occupied by two or more opposing checkers are blocked and cannot be entered.

Galaxsys supports several variants: Short, Armenian, and Long Backgammon. Starting checker positions, certain movement restrictions, and special rules may therefore differ. Before placing a bet, it is worth checking the selected variant and the settings of the specific table.

Backgammon Game Elements

Backgammon does not use slot symbols. Its main game elements are the board, checkers, two dice, the bar, and each player’s home board.

  • Checkers. Each player has 15 checkers that must be moved around the board and borne off before the opponent’s.
  • Dice. The two rolled values determine the available moves on each turn.
  • 24 Points. The triangular positions form the route along which checkers move around the board.
  • Bar. A single checker can be sent here after being hit by an opposing checker; it must be re-entered before any other moves can be made.
  • Home Board. The final quarter of the board where all checkers must be gathered before they can be borne off.
  • Doubling Cube. In variants where the feature is enabled, the cube is used to increase the value of the game according to the rules of the specific table.

A standard slot payout table for 3, 4, or 5 matching symbols does not apply to Backgammon.

Backgammon Rules and Additional Features

Backgammon’s main additional features relate to the rules and configuration of the board game itself rather than to bonus rounds.

  • Cube. Allows the doubling cube to be used and the value of the game to be increased in supported modes.
  • Jacoby. An additional rule for cube games that changes how gammon/backgammon results are counted before the first double.
  • Mars and Koks. Enhanced win variants in which the losing player fails to bear off checkers or remains in a particularly unfavorable position.
  • Beaver. A rule allowing an immediate redouble after a cube offer while retaining control, within the selected configuration.
  • Change Dice / Roll the Dice Again. Galaxsys allows a feature for rerolling one or both dice to be enabled when creating a table.
  • Private Game. Lets players create private matches.
  • Tournaments and Rake Races. The official website states that tournament formats and rake races are supported.

Free Spins, Bonus Buy, Wild, Scatter, and other slot bonuses are not used here: Backgammon remains a competitive board game.

Backgammon Interface and Controls

The interface is built around the game board and the current match state. After the dice are rolled, the player selects a legal checker and destination point, while the system checks whether each move is allowed. Depending on the table settings, controls related to the cube, rerolling dice, and match management may also be available nearby.

History View provides access to match history from the previous three days. Guest Mode lets users watch other players before starting their own match. Galaxsys officially confirms that Backgammon is available on both web and mobile devices.

The design can be customized for individual operators: Galaxsys states that backgrounds, styles, and visual elements can be changed. The appearance of a specific casino version may therefore vary slightly, although the basic board structure and rules remain recognizable.

Backgammon Pros and Cons

Backgammon is aimed at players who value competition and decision-making at the board more than fixed slot mathematics.

  • Competition against real players.
  • Classic Backgammon mechanics with two dice.
  • Short, Armenian, and Long Backgammon variants.

  • New players need to learn movement, blocking, bar, and bearing-off rules.
  • A fixed slot-style Max Win does not apply.
  • An official RTP for this PvP game is not published.
  • Betting conditions and commission may depend on the specific operator and table.

Backgammon Reviews

Below are opinions about Backgammon. They help you understand which features, mechanics, pace, and design may be important when evaluating the game.

I like that Backgammon feels like a genuine competition here rather than just another casino game. There is a choice of Backgammon variants, the cube, and extra rules, so you can set up a table in a format you are used to. I especially like being able to watch someone else's match in Guest Mode before playing my own and learn the interface first.

Editor’s reply:

One of the Galaxsys version’s main strengths is indeed its PvP format and flexible table-rule settings.

The interface is clear, available moves after the dice roll are easy to follow, and match history helps when you want to revisit a disputed moment later. I value the Cube and the option to create a private game with a specific opponent most. There are a lot of rules for beginners, but after a few matches the bar, blocks, and bearing off become much easier to understand.

Editor’s reply:

Thank you. History View and Private Game are both part of the official Backgammon feature set from Galaxsys.

It is good that there is more than one Backgammon variant. I usually choose the Armenian version, while people I know prefer Short Backgammon. The settings let you play with familiar rules, although at first you need to check carefully what is enabled at the table. Mobile support is another plus because a match works well without a large screen.

Editor’s reply:

Galaxsys officially supports Short, Armenian, and Long Backgammon, so it is worth checking the selected ruleset before the match starts.

The game is well made, but it is not for people who want to press one button and see an immediate result. You need to think about position, blocks, and the risk of leaving single checkers exposed. I enjoy that style, but match length depends heavily on the opponent and the selected variant, so it does not always suit short sessions.

Editor’s reply:

That is a fair point: Backgammon is a PvP board game, so the pace is shaped by the decisions of both players.

I tried it out of curiosity but realized that classic Backgammon suits me less than faster casino games. There is no fixed RTP displayed on screen, no Max Win, and no familiar bonuses, while there are many rules such as Cube and Beaver. That is a plus for strategy fans, but I personally prefer shorter rounds with a more predictable duration.

Editor’s reply:

Thank you for sharing your view. This version is indeed built around board-game strategy and PvP rather than slot bonuses.

Backgammon Review Summary

Backgammon by Galaxsys is a full PvP version of the classic board game with several Backgammon variants and extensive table settings. It may suit players who want to compete against others, use Cube, Jacoby, Beaver, and private games, and take part in tournaments. A fixed slot-style Max Win and one universal RTP are not officially stated for this format, so before playing for real money it is important to check the conditions of the specific table and operator.
