A round of Aces & Eights 1 Hand begins with five cards being dealt. The player can then Hold any number of cards, from none to all five. Cards that are not held are replaced with new cards from the same standard deck.

After one draw, the final five-card hand is compared with the paytable. The lowest paying hand is a pair of Jacks or Better. Stronger hands include Two Pair, Three of a Kind, Straight, Flush, Full House, the different Four of a Kind categories, Straight Flush and Royal Flush.
