Nolimit City Slots

Nolimit City specialises in online slots. Its official catalogue spans older 5×3 titles, asymmetric reel layouts, cluster and connected-ways formats, cascading wins and the studio’s own xMechanics. The developer does not build every game around one template: Tombstone uses xNudge, San Quentin uses xWays, Fire in the Hole uses xBomb, and Tombstone R.I.P. combines xNudge, xSplit and xRIP. Newer 2026 releases add features such as xGlitch, Side Hustle and Extra Spin-style systems. High or extreme volatility and feature-driven gameplay are recurring characteristics across the catalogue.

Nolimit City History and the Evolution Acquisition

Nolimit City was founded in 2014. Evolution now describes the studio as a developer with its own technology stack, unusual themes and mathematics deliberately designed around high volatility.

By 2022, the brand was already well known for games such as Mental, San Quentin, Tombstone and Fire in the Hole, which stood apart from more conventional mass-market slots.

On 22 June 2022, Evolution announced an agreement to acquire Nolimit City Holding Ltd. The upfront consideration was €200 million, while earn-outs could increase the total consideration to €340 million depending on performance during 2022–2024.

Evolution completed the acquisition on 8 August 2022 after receiving the required regulatory approvals. Nolimit City became part of Evolution Group alongside NetEnt, Red Tiger, Big Time Gaming and other brands.

The studio retained its own identity. In Evolution’s current structure, Nolimit City continues to operate as a distinct slot brand, while nolimitcity.com maintains its own game catalogue, demos, game sheets, roadmap, replays and xMechanics content.

What Are Nolimit City xMechanics?

xMechanics is the umbrella name for Nolimit City’s proprietary game systems. They can be used individually or combined within the same slot.

  • xWays. A special symbol expands into several matching symbols, increasing the number of possible winning ways. The mechanic first appeared in Pixies vs Pirates and later became widely associated with games such as Punk Rocker, San Quentin and Das xBoot.
  • xNudge. A stacked Wild nudges up or down until the visible reel area is filled. Each nudge can increase an attached multiplier.
  • xSplit. Symbols to the left of the xSplit position are split in two, increasing the number of ways. The xSplit symbol itself usually becomes a Wild after activation.
  • xBomb. An Exploding Wild removes adjacent symbols and raises the multiplier for the next collapse. Fire in the Hole is one of the best-known examples.
  • xRIP. In Tombstone R.I.P., certain smaller results can be cancelled under a special rule, contributing to the game’s extreme mathematical profile.

The family continues to evolve. Tanked 3: First Blood 2 introduced xGlitch as a new named mechanic in 2026, while the studio has also experimented with Extra Spin and Side Hustle systems.

Tombstone and the Development of xNudge

Tombstone was released on 2 May 2019 and became one of Nolimit City’s key early titles. It uses an unusual 2-3-3-3-2 grid, 243 ways and stacked Outlaw Wilds. When one of these Wilds lands on the middle reels, it nudges into full view and increases its multiplier with each step.

The official Tombstone page lists an RTP of 96.19% and a maximum win of 11,456x. In Gunslinger Spins, the xNudge Wild multiplier remains active throughout the bonus, while Bounty Spins combine several of the game’s main features.

Tombstone R.I.P. followed in 2022 as a much more extreme sequel combining xNudge, xSplit and xRIP. Its main official configuration has a 96.08% RTP and a 300,000x max win, while the game sheet also lists an alternative 94.08% RTP. Enhanced Bet uses separate 96.28% and 94.25% values.

In January 2025, Tombstone Slaughter: El Gordo’s Revenge raised the maximum win to 500,000x with an official RTP of 96.00%. On 12 May 2026, Tombstone Begins launched with 96.02% RTP and a 20,000x maximum win.

The series illustrates an important Nolimit City principle: sequels do not have to raise the maximum win. Tombstone Begins returns to the franchise’s origins thematically without trying to exceed Tombstone Slaughter mathematically.

San Quentin and Mental

San Quentin xWays was released on 12 January 2021. Its official page lists 96.03% RTP, a 150,000x max win and xWays as the central mechanic. The prison theme, high dispersion and large single-round potential helped make it one of the provider’s signature titles.

Mental arrived on 31 August 2021 and combined xWays with xNudge. The official site lists 96.08% RTP, 34.19% hit frequency and a 66,666x maximum payout. Its dark psychiatric theme is paired with a mathematical model built around stacked symbols, Wilds and multipliers.

In 2026, the San Quentin series continued with San Quentin Manhunt, released on 21 April. The game uses a cluster/drop model, multiplier blocks, xWays and xSplit. Its official page shows 96.15% RTP and a 46,532x max win.

Nolimit City therefore does more than reuse recognisable IP: sequels can substantially change the reel engine and the way wins are formed.

Fire in the Hole and xBomb

Fire in the Hole is one of Nolimit City’s best-known mining-themed slots. It launched on 2 March 2021 with a 6×3 starting grid that can expand to 6×6.

The core mechanic is xBomb. An Exploding Wild removes neighbouring symbols, excluding Bonus symbols, and increases the multiplier for the next collapse. Combined with grid expansion, this can create long chains of cascading wins.

The official page for the original Fire in the Hole lists 96.06% RTP, 25.98% hit frequency and a 60,000x max win. Feature buy-in and separate bonus modes are available where permitted by the relevant jurisdiction.

The series later expanded with Fire in the Hole 2 and Fire in the Hole 3. Each version has its own mathematics and maximum payout, so the original game’s figures should not be applied automatically to the sequels.

Das xBoot and Combined xMechanics

Das xBoot was released on 14 September 2021 and demonstrates how Nolimit City combines several signature systems in one slot. It uses xWays, xNudge and xBomb together.

The starting grid has an asymmetric 2-3-4-4-3-2 format. xWays can increase symbol counts and winning ways, xNudge strengthens stacked Wild multipliers, and xBomb removes neighbouring positions to maintain a cascade chain.

The main official version has 96.03% RTP and a 55,200x max win. The game sheet separately confirms an alternative 94.04% configuration.

Das xBoot 2wei! followed in December 2025 with 95.94% RTP and a 59,999x max win. The sequel keeps familiar xMechanics while adding new tactical features and a modified reel engine.

Nolimit City RTP and Volatility

Nolimit City does not have one universal RTP. Many well-known games sit around 96%, but some titles offer alternative configurations around 94%, while Enhanced Bet or feature options can alter theoretical return.

Game RTP Max win Key feature
Tombstone 96.19% 11,456x xNudge
San Quentin xWays 96.03% 150,000x xWays
Fire in the Hole 96.06% 60,000x xBomb
Mental 96.08% 66,666x xWays + xNudge
Das xBoot 96.03% 55,200x xWays + xNudge + xBomb
Tombstone R.I.P. 96.08% 300,000x xNudge + xSplit + xRIP
Tombstone Slaughter 96.00% 500,000x extreme western sequel
San Quentin Manhunt 96.15% 46,532x clusters + xWays + xSplit
Tombstone Begins 96.02% 20,000x respin / revolver mechanics

A high max win does not mean a high RTP. Tombstone Slaughter offers a theoretical maximum of 500,000x at 96.00% RTP, while Tombstone Begins has a 20,000x maximum at 96.02% RTP. These are separate metrics.

The studio also deliberately designs many games with high or extreme volatility. Hit frequency, bonus probability and max-win probability are therefore useful alongside RTP rather than being replaced by one return percentage.

Nolimit Bonus, Boosters and Feature Buy

Nolimit City often offers direct access to bonus modes through Nolimit Bonus or Nolimit Boosters. Costs can range from a modest increase over the base bet to hundreds or even thousands of times the stake.

For example, the Revolver Mayhem Booster in Tombstone Begins costs 999x the base bet, while San Quentin Manhunt includes boosters that alter the number of Bonus symbols and starting multipliers. Some 2026 releases include even more expensive God Mode or high-tier booster options.

These features are not universal. Official game sheets explicitly warn that Feature Buy can be removed in some regulated markets.

The presence of Buy Feature in a demo or on the developer’s site therefore does not guarantee that it will be available at a specific operator. It is more accurate to treat it as part of the game design rather than a mandatory feature for every player.

Nolimit City Demos, Replays and Mobile Games

The official nolimitcity.com site includes a game catalogue, demos, roadmap, community posts, replays, tournament content and game sheets. Many game pages provide free demo access where the user’s region is not restricted.

Evolution separately notes that Nolimit City operates on its own proprietary platform. It supports complex xMechanics, high game traffic and desktop and mobile delivery.

The site also has a replay ecosystem where users can share notable rounds and compare results in xBet or monetary values. This is a social platform feature rather than a game mechanic.

A universal standalone Nolimit City mobile app is not required to launch the slots: the games are supplied to operators as browser-based casino content. Demo and title availability depend on region and integration.

Nolimit City Licences

Nolimit City Limited is registered in Malta under company number C 54001. The official site lists an active Malta Gaming Authority B2B licence, MGA/B2B/299/2015.

The UK Gambling Commission also confirms Nolimit City Limited, account 52097. Its register shows active Gambling Software Remote and Game Host (Casino) Remote permissions, both effective from 26 October 2018. The trading name “nolimit city” is shown as Active.

The current official footer additionally lists licensing or permissions in Romania, Sweden, Ontario and Denmark. A separate entity, Nolimit City Services Limited, is registered on the Isle of Man and licensed by the Isle of Man Gambling Supervision Commission.

These permissions relate to the supplier’s legal entities. They do not mean that every casino offering Fire in the Hole or Mental is automatically licensed by the same regulators.

No separate Russia-specific licence or local B2B certification for Nolimit City was confirmed in the approved factual baseline. The EN version does not add a country-specific legal conclusion without provider-specific evidence.

New Nolimit City Games in 2026

Nolimit City has maintained a fast release pace in 2026. The following dates are confirmed in the approved source and current official catalogue:

  • Golden Shower — 27 January 2026.
  • Supersized — 10 February.
  • Catfish Hunters — 17 March.
  • Punk Rocker 3 — 7 April.
  • San Quentin Manhunt — 21 April.
  • The Crypt 2 — 3 May.
  • Tombstone Begins — 12 May.
  • True Grit Redemption 2 — 26 May.
  • Tanked 3: First Blood 2 — 9 June.
  • Soaked By Seamen — 23 June.
  • AFK Airport Security — 7 July.
  • Outsourced 2: Balkan Engineering — 18 August.

At the 31 August baseline, the official site showed Outsourced 2 as the latest live release. The game uses Print Spins, God Mode and xTra Spin and has a maximum payout of 11,111x. The official roadmap also shows later upcoming games, so “latest” should be read as the latest confirmed live release at that verification date.

A defining feature of the 2026 roadmap is the continued development of existing IP alongside new mechanics. Punk Rocker, San Quentin, Tombstone, Tanked and Outsourced all received sequels, but their mechanics were substantially reworked rather than simply reskinned.

Nolimit City Pros and Cons

Nolimit City occupies a distinctive niche among slot studios because of its extreme mathematics and proprietary mechanics.

Advantages

  • Proprietary xMechanics family including xWays, xNudge, xSplit, xBomb, xRIP and newer features.
  • Diverse reel engines covering fixed ways, asymmetric grids, clusters, cascades and connected ways.
  • Detailed official game pages with RTP, hit frequency, max-win probability, maximum payout and release dates.
  • Active 2026 release schedule.
  • The brand retains a distinct studio identity inside Evolution Group.
  • Current sources confirm active MGA and UKGC B2B permissions.

Cons

  • Much of the catalogue is designed around high or extreme volatility, which will not suit every player.
  • Feature Buy and expensive Nolimit Boosters may be unavailable in some jurisdictions.
  • Some games have multiple RTP configurations, so a single figure from a review does not guarantee the operator version.
  • The provocative, dark and intentionally abrasive themes of some releases may not appeal to players who prefer neutral or classic slot themes.

Nolimit City Game Reviews

Below are opinions about Nolimit City. They help highlight which aspects of its games, mechanics, presentation, and product approach may matter when evaluating the provider.

Nolimit City interests me mainly because of the mechanics. Fire in the Hole with xBomb feels completely different from Tombstone with xNudge or San Quentin with xWays. Even when the themes are too dark for my taste, the games rarely feel like copies of one another. I always start with the demo because the rules can be much more complex than in a typical slot.

Reply:

Thanks for the feedback. Different xMechanics and unconventional reel layouts are indeed among Nolimit City’s defining characteristics.

Tombstone R.I.P. is impressive in terms of potential, but it is definitely not a relaxed slot. A 300,000x maximum looks dramatic, yet the mathematics is very harsh and xRIP can make smaller results feel even tougher. I like the concept, but I would not play it for long sessions. It is especially important not to confuse a huge max win with a high chance of reaching it.

Reply:

Thanks. Max win and the probability of reaching it are separate metrics, especially in the studio’s extremely volatile games.

I return to Mental and San Quentin most often. They have strong atmospheres and the signature mechanics genuinely change what happens on the reels rather than just renaming a bonus. The downside is that alternative RTPs are not always obvious. If a game has both a 96% and a 94% version, I always check the Info section at the specific casino.

Reply:

That is a useful approach. Nolimit City does release some games with multiple RTP configurations, so the operator version should be checked separately.

The 2026 release schedule is very active, but I sometimes think the studio leans too heavily on expensive Boosters and God Mode options. They are interesting to explore in demo mode, but they change the stake structure considerably. For me, the normal base game matters more than being able to buy the most aggressive scenario immediately.

Reply:

Thanks for the review. Boosters are optional modes and do not replace the underlying mathematical model of the specific game.

I like Nolimit City’s technical side, but the visual style does not always work for me. Some prison, horror and deliberately provocative themes feel too heavy for casual play, so I tend to choose the more neutral releases. On the other hand, the catalogue is anything but anonymous: you can often recognise the studio’s style before seeing the logo.

Reply:

Thanks. The strong visual identity is both one of the brand’s strengths and a matter of personal preference.

Nolimit City Review: Conclusion

Nolimit City is an Evolution Group slot brand founded in 2014 that has retained its own platform, xMechanics and visual identity since the 2022 acquisition. Signature games include Tombstone, San Quentin, Mental, Fire in the Hole and Das xBoot, while key mechanics include xWays, xNudge, xSplit and xBomb. Many of its best-known releases are designed for high or extreme volatility, and maximum wins in some titles reach hundreds of thousands of times the stake. The studio has continued an active release cycle in 2026; at the 31 August verification date, Outsourced 2: Balkan Engineering from 18 August was the latest confirmed live title. RTP and the availability of Boosters or Feature Buy should always be checked for the specific operator version.

Casinos with Nolimit City Games

Nolimit City games are distributed through Evolution and operators’ B2B integrations. After the acquisition, Evolution planned to expand distribution through its One Stop Shop, and in 2024 Nolimit City launched across six regulated US states where Evolution was active. The available catalogue varies by market: one casino may offer Fire in the Hole, Mental and Tombstone, while another may carry only part of the newer range. Seeing Nolimit City in a lobby does not confirm the casino’s licence, guarantee a 96% RTP configuration or prove that Feature Buy is available. The exact game version and operator status should be checked separately.
